Mellow Dog Mumma – someone who lives their best life with their dog. Like a regular parent. But cooler! And more chilled!

There’s dog sports and there’s dog sports. And if you’re reading this you know there’s more to our hobby than just a simple sport. It’s about passion, adventure, and seeing the world with dog’s eyes.

In 2020 – just as the world stopped turning, I traded in my business suit for a laptop and a puppy, and set out to pass more time on the road with my dogs – walking, training, competing, and just hanging out. What started out 15 years ago as a simple passion, a way to recharge the batteries at weekends, has become an inseparable practice of my lifestyle and who I am.

I want to share and exchange my experience with others, and feed my soul. Dogs and dog sports ( specifically Obedience) are essential for me. They allow me to be close to nature, and help me tap in to my own true nature. It makes me want to go on an adventure, far from my comfort zone, and constantly challenge myself. And watching the way dogs learn and their ability to ‘just be dogs’ is truly awesome.

You can be a great sports dog trainer, and handle life’s shenanigans – without losing your mind. Most dog lovers I know, feel torn between either spending quality time on their own needs (which feels self-indulgent) or continuing to struggle on and power through at break neck speed to cope with all the demands for their attention and time, (which feels exhausting).

Armed with the finest of canine campers – a tailored Renault Trafic – I travel the UK to the best training camps and Obedience dog shows to put the dogs through their paces, walking them round in circles, obsessing about endless heelwork, and perfect left turns along the way. Experiencing community before it was trendy, and lucking out with beautiful sunsets and shooting stars, the mellow dog mumma life is definitely the one for me.

I am suggesting that there’s a way to approach life that actually works better, than the struggling and striving you hate, and that feels genuinely good for you, your dog, and all involved. This work is all about developing what I call ‘mellow living for uncertain times’.

What I’ve got here could be a fit for you if:

YOU FEEL THE CALL TO SLOW DOWN

You operate at such high speed that you rarely slow down and become exhausted before you know it. You are ready to live and work at a more sustainable rate (that feels good.)

YOU CRAVE A SUSTAINABLE LIFESTYLE

You really want your life and work (whether for income or not) to be meaningful. BUT ALSO lifestyle friendly for you and your dog. You’re done with burnouts and rat races. DONE.

YOU FEEL LIFE IS AN ADVENTURE

You’re no slouch. You feel that life with dogs is an adventure, you want to make the MOST of it, but you’re side-lined, by not having the energy, motivation, to do much of anything.

Case Study

Sarah J (sports dog competitor & former medical professional.)

Within 3 months Sarah went from being a struggling, overwhelmed, wife, mother, dog trainer, to increasing her confidence, took charge of her finances, took care of her health, has become happy and strong, and now has a life with her dogs and her family that she loves.

Before: Sarah was struggling, overwhelmed, and exhausted after two difficult years. As a wife, mother, and dog mum to 3 collies, she had to constantly handle demands from her family, was always putting other people before herself, and didn’t have time for her own self-care so felt tired, resentful, and neglected.

Also, if she had a problem she wouldn’t ask for help. She would just work harder at trying to solve it, and she had very little energy.

After: Sarah now has lots more energy and is about to invest in an equestrian property where she can live and train her dogs with freedom and peace of mind. With more energy she is enjoying life, and has more free time to take care of her health, is more confident in her relationships, and has a lifestyle she loves as it keeps her fit, healthy and feeling joyful.

Timeframe: 3 months

Quote from Sarah: “Angela’s coaching programme came at exactly the right time for me. I had had a difficult 2 years with concerns about the pandemic, together with bereavement, relationship problems, and illnesses. I was sad and felt as if I had lost my anchor.

Having completed coaching with Angela it has been very successful. Each session was enjoyable, useful, but oddly, not hard work.

It’s changed how I view problems, guided me to be aware of my thoughts, and to look after myself. In the past I have just been busy and only thought of others. It was so helpful to learn to check in on myself too.

So without much effort, I feel happier, stronger, and more confident. I also now have lots more energy and things are just seeming to fall into place. I can now look forward to my new doggy adventures with excitement.”

“Hello wonderful Angela! It’s taken me three days to get off the sea bed – thus my delay in getting in touch to thank you for a truly lovely and inspirational session on Friday!! I LOVED it. Super to meet with lovely people and so refreshing to re-visit the whole subject of being grounded in our true selves. You were made to do this work, you really were. it’s so intangible that it’s hard to put my finger on it, but I think it’s that you make me feel at peace (which if you remember is a pretty rare commodity in my crazy, noisy, head). So in short, thank you :-)”

FOUNDER, ENIGMA COACHING

โ€œI came to Angela post Covid wondering which direction to take my business and questioning my own ability due to imposter syndrome. Through our sessions she helped the real me re-surface and my confidence grow. We also laughed a lot. She was the perfect thinking partner, and I am now happy with the direction I want to take my business and with who I am.

โ€œI started my coaching programme with Angela about a year back. I was cautious of the challenges ahead of me as a young professional in a leadership position, needed guidance on how to approach things and how to achieve satisfaction and peace with all the changes I was going through. Angela’s coaching helped me to value my capabilities even more, reduce mental and emotional attachment to situations, and to be more decisive. Now I no longer fear the challenges ahead. I just deal with them as they come, and I’m capable of making decisions, that are well thought through, in a timely manner.โ€

Angela, you won’t believe how radical I’ve been since you put me into a reflective headspace. I’ve now got a new partner, a step-daughter, a new career, relocation, lost loads of weight…I got happy.

Nick – Business Owner

When times get uncertain, and you have a lot on your mind, it’s easy to feel frazzled. It’s easy to come up with loads and loads of ideas about what you should do.

But that only makes things worse. You can’t decide what to focus on, your mind gets tangled up in knots, and you end up doing nothing. It’s paralysing. AARGH!

The long term fix is this: you slow down. (what??)

And you go deep. (ooh!)

You deepen your clarity about who you are, your Who’s, what you want more of in your life. You explore your inner life, your capacity for wellbeing & resilience. You deepen your creativity and contentment. You listen deeply to your heart and soul. And from that place you can start seeing clearly what you need, and building a new and better life – a life that’s sustains and nourishes you.

As confidence expert Rich Litvin once said: “You need to slow down to speed up”.

The paradox: When you slow down you accomplish more, with ease.

In my workshop, you won’t learn the latest bells and whistles of dog training, or any cutting edge mind management tools.

You’ll learn a lot about the depth of your capacity for wellbeing and resilience, about your real competitive advantage, about who you are, so that you feel happier, more connected, and create even better results, with less stress and pressure. In short, you’re invited to improve the quality of your life and your dog’s life and make space in your world for both.

In short, this is the place for dog mummas & dads to mellow out.

A philosophy that brings a sense of

CONFIDENCE CALM EASE

PEACE PATIENCE CREATIVITY

JOY HAPPINESS RESILIENCE

from the inside-out.

If you learn to slow down and stop pushing so hard, you’ll be astounded by the level of accomplishment and quality of lifestyle that becomes available to you.

Angela Watson

Owner of Mellow Dog Mumma

Hi, I’m Angela and this is Jasper. I’m the woman behind Mellow Dog Mumma.

I’m dedicated to sharing a slower paced, calm and natural approach to life, work, dog sports, especially for those who are looking for meaningful conversations that feel good, and who want to experience more peace of mind and confidence in their daily life.

This is what sets my work apart from pretty much everything else out there.

Paddock Sessions

Like a relaxed one on one chat with a friend – with the whole focus on you, we’ll spend one hour working on whatever issue you have that is most pressing for you. Paddock Sessions happen via phone as opposed to video so I can potter with the dogs while we talk. This could look like me and the dogs walking round the Paddock, or sitting on a hay bale, or having a cuppa in the canine camper. If you can stay on track you’re invited to be pottering about in nature too.

12 Weeks 121

A 12 week, one-on-one project with life changing results. It’s like an Operations Manual For your Thriving Life, Career & Business. Create massive transformation in your inner world, whilst you build a plan for what would be most fun and meaningful for you in your outer world. You and I will meet on Zoom, for 75 minutes once a week for 12 weeks to explore a slower paced, simple, way to approach life that feels more natural, and more YOU, without having to ‘believe in yourself’, ‘think positive’ or learn an endless stream of steps, techniques, or magic formulas.

Bespoke 1:1

A bespoke programme of 1:1 coaching and mentoring to help you uncover peaceful balance and resilience so that you can have a steadier, consistent, and positive impact in your life and work as a leader, or coach, business owner, entrepreneur…the list is endless.
